What is auto cashout in crash games?

Auto cashout is a setting that cashes out your stake automatically when the multiplier reaches a target you chose before the round. It removes the timing decision. It does not change the average return, which is set by the game's house edge and is the same at every target.

Definition

Auto cashout is a feature of crash games that lets a player enter a target multiplier before the round begins. If the multiplier reaches that target, the game cashes out the stake at that value without a click. If the round stops first, the stake is lost, exactly as it would be by hand.

The setting is a convenience. The stopping point of the round is produced by the game's random number generator before the multiplier starts to climb, so nothing set by the player can move it.

What it changes

It removes the in-round decision, so a player cannot hesitate or chase a higher number mid-round. It also makes the target fixed, which makes the spread of results narrower or wider in a known way. That spread is volatility.

What it cannot change

In the standard model the chance of reaching a multiplier t is (1 − h)/t, where h is the house margin. The average return per shilling at target t is t × (1 − h)/t = 1 − h. The target cancels out, so every setting costs the same on average.

Illustrative example

Take a 3% margin and a KES 100 stake. At an auto cashout of 2.00x the chance of payout is 48.5%, and the average return is 2 × 0.485 × 100 = KES 97. At 10.00x the chance is 9.7%, and the average return is 10 × 0.097 × 100 = KES 97.

The 3% margin is chosen for the example only.

What does differ is the shape. The 2.00x setting wins about once in two rounds, while the 10.00x setting wins about once in ten and loses KES 100 in the other nine. The expected value is the same, so a run of automatic wins at a low target says nothing about the next round, which is the point made in the guide on the gambler's fallacy.

What Kenyan rules say

Regulation 45(1) requires the game rules to be clearly displayed before any wager, and regulation 45 also requires the theoretical return to player of each game to be publicly disclosed. Regulation 87(2) lists deposit limits (daily, weekly, monthly), loss, session and expenditure limits, and reality checks. These tools work on the total staked, which auto cashout does not. Gambling is addictive; play responsibly.

Questions and answers

Does auto cashout improve the chance of winning in a crash game?

It does not change the chance of reaching a given multiplier. That chance is fixed by the game's maths before the round starts. Auto cashout only fixes the multiplier at which you leave.

Can auto cashout be set to guarantee a profit?

No. If the round stops below your target, the stake is lost, whatever was set. A low target is reached more often, but it pays less, and the average return stays the same.

Is auto cashout the same as a limit?

No. It is a rule for one round. A deposit, loss or session limit works on the total you stake, which is where the house edge accumulates. Regulation 87(2) of the 2026 Conduct of Gambling Operations Regulations lists the limit tools a licensee must provide.
